I thought that being in the middle would be a place of balance.
I thought that bringing together all the feelings and facts
would help me find a sense of peace and understanding.
I thought that the middle would be a more comfortable place.
Instead, I’m finding that the middle is a place of constant tension.
Being in the middle means continually feeling that tension.
My emotional muscles ache as I pull on the pendulum to restrain it at the middle,
but it maintains its course back and forth, extreme to extreme.
Maybe the middle is exactly where I’m supposed to be,
but when I began this journey to find the extreme middle,
I had no idea that the middle would be such a precarious position.
