The Emperor’s New Clothes

It’s wrong, and I feel like I need to tell someone, anyone, everyone. But I feel like I’m screaming into a vacuum. No one can hear me. No one actually sees me. No one can do anything. And no one really cares.

I’m just supposed to be okay, as if nothing changed. And I have to be careful not to hurt anyone else. But why is it okay for me to be hurt? Who’s being careful for me?loss Continue reading →

Spring break 201620160314_191907

Our little family of four (our oldest had already flown the coop back in June 2014) took a whirlwind spring break trip starting with a brief visit to our nation’s capitol in Washington, DC.

Stubborn and bright, this little girl excelled at many things: music, art, school work, and even sword drills at Vacation Bible School. She was well loved and cared for, though sometimes misunderstood and found to be exasperating. Though not overt and probably not even intended, there was an air of legalism and pride in the home.
